Benton Animal Hospital

We have used benton animal hospital for all of our dogs since 2014 or so. In 2020, we got a black lab and she was seemingly healthy until around 2022. We noticed some bumps and some concerning swelling and we brought her to this vet. We shared our concerns and were unfortunately not heard. Many visits and a year later, they found out she had lung cancer that had spread to her entire body and recommended she be put down. I understand oversights and I understand missing things. That’s fine. My other lab, a chocolate lab, was recently left dehydrated after a puppy camp and needed a bag of fluids. We called and BAH said “We are all booked up but I guess we can try.” Try??? Try to give a bag of fluids?? We called a different vet and fortunately they were extremely accommodating and kind and fit us in. I’m not saying that BAH is a terrible vet, I’m just sharing my experience that they overlook concerns and at the end of the day, don’t want to accommodate you or your pet. If you want someone who’s committed to helping you and your pet, I recommend you go somewhere else.

Very disappointed with our experience! We recently moved to Bossier City and were looking for a veterinarian for our two dogs. Benton Animal Hospital had good reviews and we were excited to give them a try. We arrived on time for our scheduled appointment, but after waiting over an hour with no explanation, no one acknowledged the delay or apologized. When we were finally called back, the vet tech seemed unprepared and wasn't sure which of our dogs was there for vaccinations, despite us sending their shot records ahead of time and clearly stating the purpose of each appointment. We were there for a routine visit (basic annual vaccinations/heartworm and an initial wellness exam), so it was surprising that such a straightforward appointment seemed so disorganized. What was even more frustrating was how nonchalant everyone seemed about being an hour behind schedule. To make matters worse, after all of that waiting, the veterinarian never came in to introduce themselves or speak with us. At that point, we decided to walk out because we no longer felt confident that our dogs would receive the level of care they deserved. First impressions matter, especially when you're trusting someone with your pets. We will be seeking out a different veterinarian to care for our dogs. The only bright spot was the front desk staff. They were incredibly friendly, welcomed our dogs with open arms (and treats), and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in.
